General volunteers and committee members

Description of the role:

The faith-led community at L’Arche Ipswich opened in 2006. Our houses are much like any family home. People with learning disabilities live here, along with live-in assistants. They live and work together, sharing day-to-day tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. A busy calendar includes shared meals, family days, weekly house meetings, birthday celebrations and prayer time. As well as being rewarding and fulfilling, assistants and volunteers often say they grow in confidence at L’Arche Ipswich, realise things they never knew about themselves and make great memories and friends.

We are looking for volunteers, accompaniers and potential new committee members with previous experience who are willing to give up their time and knowledge to help us.

For those interested in joining the committee, meetings are held normally in the evenings, in Ipswich. Previous experience of charity work is not essential, but an interest in L’Arche and the community is important as well as expertise in other areas.

If you are interested or would like some more information, please contact Emily Nunn at Emily.nunn@larche.org.uk or on 01473 216426.
