Activities Assistant

Description of the role:

As an Activities Assistant you would be engaging and socialising with our clients, playing games, reading, and other activities as discussed with the Coordinator.
While the above is priority, occasionally you may be required to serve the organisation's clients & customers with snacks & light refreshments. Till Training is provided. As a Team we aim to keep tables clear of used dishes, cups etc. placing them on the trolley provided ready for the kitchen. We maintain a high standard of cleanliness on the tables, servery & service area at all times. In quieter moments to perform tasks from the ‘Daily Task List’.

To always be polite, friendly & helpful to all clients & customers of NDC

Be a conscientious time keeper & to let the Centre know if you are unable to make your session in time for other cover to be organised. To always sign in & out in the Volunteer log book. To be familiar with & adhere to all relevant Volunteer Policies & Procedures provided.

Newmarket Day Centre C.I.O. is an Independent community resource situated in the centre of Newmarket. Our Charity believes in and promotes the importance of maintaining a high quality of life in Older age.
We offer a range of services all under one roof and provide a fun, sociable and safe environment for all visitors and clients. The Day Centre also boasts a day care program, enabling those with difficulties to socialise and
maintain independence. We also run a Lunch Plate Delivery Service and offer a Morning and Afternoon Transport service and within the local community with the help of our volunteers, to combat isolation and ensure good nutrition. At the centre, alongside our very popular lunch service in the cafe, we have a bar area, hair salon, chiropody appointments, bathing service and weekly classes available.

We are open Monday to Friday - 8:30 am until 4:00 pm (excluding public holidays)

Our Volunteering roles include:
Kitchen Assistants
Hairdressing Assistants
Counter/Floor Assistants
Hot Plate Delivery Drivers (between 12-1pm)
Transport Bus Drivers and Escorts (Morning and Afternoon)
