Survivors in Transition (SiT) is the only provider of specialist support services to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse in Suffolk. The organisation is based in Ipswich but offers services in other locations, driven by demand. Survivors in Transition has rapidly grown since its inception in 2009 and is looking to appoint a Business Development & Finance trustee to help steer the organisition in to its next phase of growth. This trustee will have a strategic role to play in representing the vision and purpose of the organisation, assisting us identify opportunities and innovative practices.
Scope of The Role
The role of the Business Development & Finance Trustee is to:
ensure that SiT implements appropriate financials controls
Identify new opportunities
ensure that financial reporting is robust and of sufficient quality
ensure that the trustees comply with charity law and regulation to finance
work with the CEO and Chair of Trustees to pull together the operating plan and budget.
identify and manage the risk of conflicts of interest, loss, waste, bribery, theft or fraud.
present financial reports at monthly board meetings
The Business Development & Finance Trustee must have the following essential skills:
Financial background / management of significant budgets
Business skills / acume
Commercial awareness and knowledge of Suffolk funding / commissioning landscape
Experience of running a growing charity.
An appreciation of statutory bodies in Suffolk.
An insight into childhood sexual abuse and the complex emotional needs including mental health issues of survivors of CSA.
Have to be over 18 years of age.
Time commitment of 2 hours per week
The Board of Trustees meets on the first Monday of every month from 6.15pm at 84 Fore Street Ipswich, approx. 2 hrs in duration.
