The Antiques Roadshow will be coming to Ipswich on Sunday 26th July 2020 and we're requiring up to 60 volunteer stewards to aid with the smooth running of the day. Specific roles will be confirmed closer to the event day however these could include assisting with the management of visitors, monitoring restricted areas, helping with the running of the waiting room for those being filmed and aiding with the provision of refreshments for members of the public and the specialists at their tables.
An ability to communicate well with the public is crucial as we want to ensure that this is a positive experience for both volunteers and visitors. Experience in volunteering, stewarding, customer services or front of house roles is desired however not mandatory.
A professional approach to each task will need to be applied whilst still acting as a 'friendly face' to all attending.
This event will enable volunteers to get an insight into how the programme is produced and the steps that are taken on the day to create the overall, finished project. Working directly with the public enables the volunteer to develop their communication skills and ability to use initiative when faced with questions from customers.
All volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
A volunteer briefing will be taking place on Saturday 25th July from 3pm - 4:30pm. This will cover the specific roles of each individual whilst also providing important information about the event that the volunteers will need to know in order to perform their duties.
The position is likely to involve walking or standing for a long period of time so it is important that the volunteer feels comfortable to do this. Certain positions can potentially accommodate wheelchair users or volunteers that may not be able to stand for the entire duration.
The event will be going ahead come rain or shine, so a willingness to work outside in all weather conditions is ideal.
