Description of the role:

Are you a people-person? Looking for a safe way to meet new people and learn new skills? Become a volunteer tour guide at Bury St Edmunds Guildhall! The Guildhall has a fascinating past and an exciting future. It has been at the centre of the Bury St Edmunds community for nearly 1000 years. Kidnapped monks and desperate criminals, wedding guests and wartime heroes - the Guildhall has so many stories to tell and we need your help to do it!

What skills are needed?

No previous tour guide experience is needed. All you need is:

• Enthusiasm
• A friendly and approachable manner
• The ability to engage with a variety of people
• An interest in history and storytelling
• A reasonably good memory!

Volunteering with the Guildhall is flexible and can fit around your other commitments.

The Guildhall has the Good to Go industry Covid-19 standard and complies with all current government guidance.

What skills will be learned / gained?

This role will be what you make it! You will learn new things, meet new people, and gain the satisfaction of bringing the Guildhall to life and helping us welcome back visitors after this challenging time.

By joining our team, you will be joining an enthusiastic, friendly group of volunteers all working together to make 2021 a positive year for this special place.

Mandatory training required for role: Yes
Details of mandatory training:

You will be given training in delivering the content of our tours, as well as how to deliver them safely within Covid-19 guidelines.
