Committee Member Volunteer

Description of the role:

L’Arche Ipswich is looking for two new committee members, people who can volunteer their talents and perhaps their professional expertise to the Community. The Committee works to support the Community Leader to:
• make sure the needs and wishes of our core members is at the heart of what we do (spiritual, care and community),
• support the ongoing development of the Community (including our large building development project),
• ensure that standards are maintained and enhanced, and
• align our work to meet the local need for our support – ensuring a viable business model.

As a committee member you will be offered an opportunity that is fulfilling, interesting and life-affirming, a chance to broaden your experience and skills and enable you to make a real difference in Ipswich.

What skills are needed?

We would welcome interest from potential committee members who have an interest in care and / or with experience of commercial building development or housing experience, or HR or social enterprise or financial expertise.

What skills will be learned / gained?

Leadership skills who can Chair the Committee in the future.

The faith-led community at L’Arche Ipswich opened in 2006. Our houses are much like any family home. People with learning disabilities live here, along with live-in assistants. They live and work together, sharing day-to-day tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. A busy calendar includes shared meals, family days, weekly house meetings, birthday celebrations and prayer time.
