Description of the role:

IP3 Good Neighbours is setting up a series of Weekly coffee Drop ins using Church Halls and other locations in IP3. These will be somewhere for people to come to and meet other people, perhaps hear a speaker or take part in an activity. Support services in areas such as debt advice and employment will also be available.
The volunteer may be involved in various activities such as setting up the hall, making tea and coffee, chatting with the people who attend and wherever else the may be required.

What skills are needed?

As these will be weekly events you need to be reliable and trustworthy. You should be a team player and willing to adapt and help where you are needed. You will ideally have a friendly and confident manner and a willingness to talk to people. Most of all you should not be afraid to ;get your hands dirty' as these events will be run by a small team

What skills will be learned / gained?

There will be opportunities to grow your confidence should you wish by doing things outside your comfort zone. There will also be the opportunity to learn and get involved with providing some of the advice services which will run beside these events. Full training will be provided.

Organisation Profile:

The purpose is to help residents in the IP3 Area of Ipswich with activities such as shopping, collecting prescriptions and odd jobs. We also offer befriending to lonely residents currently by telephone but hopefully face to face at a later date. We will also be setting up work parties for larger jobs. The group also intends to promote community through events and we also have a hardship fund available where needed.
