Description of the role:

We are hoping to open the Suffolk Regiment Museum more regularly to the public and need more volunteers to be able to do this. Good company and cups of tea are included!

The Suffolk Regiment Museum tells the story of the regiment from its foundation in 1685 to amalgamation with the Royal Norfolk Regiment in 1959. The history covers the regular, militia, volunteer and war-time battalions as well as the experience of individual soldiers and is told through medals, uniforms, photographs, weapons, equipment and personal memorabilia.

What skills are needed?

No previous experience is needed. Volunteering with the Museum is flexible and can fit around your other commitments.
All you need is:
Enthusiasm
The ability to engage with a variety of people
An interest in history and storytelling
A reasonably good memory!
Be over the age of 18.

What skills will be learned / gained?

This role will be what you make it! You will learn new things, meet new people, and gain the satisfaction of bringing the Museum to life and helping us welcome back visitors after this challenging time.

The Curator will carry out a full induction and training where required.

Extra information:

No previous knowledge of the Regiment, the collection or military experience is necessary. You just need to be welcoming and willing to learn!
